Let’s hear those sleigh bells jingling, ring-ting-tingling too… These lyrics were playing on my radio when I went to return my rental car but the location was closed. Rather than letting the 1/2 hour delay ruin my whole day, I drove to the nearest drive-thru Starbucks a block away.
I usually get a regular coffee but felt like splurging and buying myself an early birthday present. (December 22nd is my birthday 🙂 ) “I’ll have a grande soy cappuccino please,” I said into the speaker. The Barista said, “That’ll be $4.25, first window.” When I pulled forward to pay, the cashier had a perplexing look on her face. Were they out of soy? She said, “Uh– the woman behind you is paying for your coffee.”
“What?!”
I peered out my window as the woman behind me peered out hers and said, “Merry Christmas!!” I noticed her red Christmas sweater reflecting brightly through the windshield. I said, “Thank you so much… Merry Christmas to you too!!” The unexpected gift that keeps on giving… see my previous Starbucks post.
As I was driving away, I kid you not, the lyrics on the radio were, “These wonderful things are the things we remember all through our lives.” I felt like my Jackson Pollack mood was turning into a Norman Rockwell life. It didn’t matter that I needed a rental car because my car needed $575.00 of repairs. It didn’t matter that I’ve been dealing with more challenges and unexpected roadblocks renewing my life– I was in the flow of life with all the heartfelt moments of pain and gain. I felt like I mattered and received the core gift that every day can be a birthday if we allow things to unfold through Divine orchestration. You matter too and here’s to all the beautiful gifts of pain and eventual gain that life greets you with. May yours be equally fulfilling.
As Always, Ignite Your Light and Let it Shine Bright!
From My Heart to Yours,
Kris
